Liv Zak Syrah 2017
It’s hard to keep the lid on this wine. It has a rippling core of fresh red and black fruits dusted with wild herbs, black pepper and dark cacao.
Vibrant aromas of summer berries and blackcurrant exude from the glass with hints of spice, lavender and fresh herbs.
A dynamic wine centered around red and black fruits dusted with wild herbs, pink peppercorn, black pepper and dark cacao. A soft, flowing wine that is full-flavoured yet delicate on the palate.
Hand-picked, with a combination of whole berries and whole bunches in the ferment. Fermented with native yeast at relatively cool temperatures to retain delicate aromatics and draw only the smooth tannins.
Contrasting with an unusually warm, early and compacted 2016 vintage, the 2017 Vintage in Coldstream was mild, steady and relatively drawn out. A cool, wet Spring led to delayed budburst and flowering, pushing harvest out later
than recent years to more tradition timings! The first block to be harvested was Pinot Noir (114 and 115 clones) for Rose on the 1st of March, with the remaining Pinot Noir harvest commencing on the 3rd of March. Harvest concluded one month later on the 3rd of April.
