Vineyard Notes

Summer 2017

This summer marks a significant moment in the short history of Warramunda Estate. We have just released four new wines under our daughter’s label, Liv Zak Wines.

This includes a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, new release Rosé and will soon have a Cabernet Sauvignon.

The wines have now been made available to wine stores, restaurants and other stockists and you can now order the wines online. (We’ll process any online orders from 23 January 2017 when we re-open the cellar door).

Spring proved to be a challenging period in the vineyard, with gusty winds, rain and cool, overcast days. Flowering was delayed however, the fruit has developed evenly across the vineyard blocks and we anticipate a close to average crop level.

The vines are in good health and growing fast so our vineyard manager, Michelle has been busy coordinating wire-lifting to help hold and stretch the vine canes – providing the grape bunches with exposure to sunlight which is necessary for even fruit development.

The work we have done to renovate some of our blocks and arch-cane prune the vineyard will really show its worth at vintage.

Vintage will probably be a little later than usual in 2017 but hopefully it will be at a much more manageable pace than the quick speed we had to process fruit in 2016.

The coming year is set to be an exciting one for Warramunda Estate. A new food menu will be available in February for visitors to enjoy at Cellar Door, we have some fun wine events scheduled and we are working on plans to build our own winery and bigger cellar door facility. This might not be completed until 2018 but we hope to get started on construction in the second half of the year.

We look forward to welcoming to our home vineyard in 2017 and make sure you subscribe to our mailing list to find out more about what’s happening at Warramunda in 2017.
